Walkin’ in Memphis is an annual World Down Syndrome Day event dedicated to raising awareness, promoting inclusion, and celebrating the lives and contributions of individuals with Down syndrome across the Mid-South.
Free and open to the public, the day begins with a citywide awareness walk through downtown Memphis starting at 5:00 AM at Big River Crossing. The walk concludes at the Renasant Convention Center at 6:00 PM, where the 9th Annual Walkin’ in Memphis Celebration takes place.
The evening celebration features live music, games and activities, food available for purchase, a cash bar, and a 50+ item silent auction. Proceeds from the silent auction support programs and services provided by the Down Syndrome Association of Memphis & the Mid-South. Guests can also enjoy views of the Mighty Lights illuminating the bridges in blue and yellow in recognition of World Down Syndrome Day.
